RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Because of hazardous overnight conditions, GRTC does not plan to resume service on Saturday morning until 8 a.m. Road conditions will be thoroughly reviewed before any buses are cleared to return to service early Saturday morning.
As of 4:30 p.m. on Friday, GRTC remains on snow routes. During snow routes, some bus routes will avoid dangerous streets around the system that are challenging to navigate in inclement Winter Weather. Buses display an alert message on the electronic exterior signs, saying, “SNOW ROUTES IN EFFECT,” to notify customers that buses are on snow routes.
Buses will remain on snow routes through the end of the day. Customers should expect delays between scheduled buses as a result of the road conditions.
With the expected increasing wind gusts this evening coupled with ongoing snowfall, GRTC will end fixed route and paratransit service early Friday at 8 p.m. For routes that are still out on their last trip at 8 p.m., including return trips for paratransit customers, GRTC will complete those final services after 8 p.m.
