CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — An accident on Interstate 64 westbound Saturday morning in Chesapeake has resulted in a fatality, according to Virginia State Police.
Police Sgt. Michelle Anaya confirmed the fatality around 8:15 a.m. Saturday. Anaya says more information will released once State Police receive it.
Law enforcement and traffic officials have been cautioning motorists to stay off the roadways during this weekend’s winter storm.
The storm has caused a massive amount of traffic issues on primary and secondary roadways, including 339 reported crashes in the State Police Chesapeake Division as of Saturday morning.
