RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — This weekend’s massive snowstorm has canceled 7500 flights around the nation.
Some men and women in the armed forces are unfortunately stuck at Richmond International Airport (RIC). Many of them were doing some training at Fort Lee before they got stranded at RIC.
Fortunately, the United Service Organizations (USO) has a lounge and office at the airport and are helping those folks as they wait to get out of Richmond.
Master Sergeant Belinda Galvan says the USO is providing stranded servicemen and women with movies, snacks and video games to stay occupied as they wait.
“It’s like a home away from home,” Master Sergeant Belinda Galvan told 8News reporter Kerri O’Brien.
Officials at Richmond International Airport says that 90 percent of their flights today have been canceled. That number could continue to rise.
