EMPORIA, Va. (WRIC) – A woman is recovering following a shooting during a domestic dispute in Emporia on Monday evening.

Police were alerted to the intersection of Main and Atlantic Streets for a reported shooting around 5:20 p.m. According to police, a male had reportedly shot at a female multiple times. When officers arrived, they found the victim, who was identified as 28-year-old Titian Daouda, seated inside of her vehicle suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Daouda was transported to Southern Virginia Regional Medical Center and airlifted to VCU Medical Center’s Trauma Center. She is currently in critical but stable condition.

Daouda was able to identify her assailant at the scene of the shooting as her former boyfriend, 36-year-old Jarvis Green from Garysburg, North Carolina. Police say the motive for the shooting appears to be on-going domestic issues between Green and Daouda.

Sergeant Detective Stan Allen obtained arrest warrants on Jarvis Green for attempted premeditated first degree murder, maliciously shooting into an occupied vehicle and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Green turned himself into authorities at approximately 9:00 p.m. and was brought to the police department for questioning.

The warrants were served on Green and he was taken before a Magistrate.

He’s currently being held at the Southside Regional Jail without bond.
