ALBERMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Police responded to a robbery Tuesday morning at the Shell Gas Station located at 1220 Seminole Trail in Albermarle County.
33-year-old Clayton W. Beakley reportedly stole an item of merchandise forcefully from the store clerk.
When Beakley left the store, he then confronted a customer in a vehicle parked near a gas pump and attempted to get into their vehicle.
Beakley tried to leave the store parking lot, but an officer arrived and blocked the vehicle. Beakley then got out of the vehicle and confronted the officer.
While trying to place Beakley under arrest a physical altercation broke out and the officer was knocked to the ground. Another officer came and used a taser on the suspect.
Beakley was arrested and charged with robbery, assault and battery, assault and battery on a law enforcement officer, and attempted abduction by force.
Beakley is being held in the Charolettesville – Albermarle Regional Jail pending a bond hearing on Wednesday.
