DINWIDDIE, Va. (AP) – A former bank officer has admitted to embezzling more than $97,000.
James Bryant Neville Jr. pleaded guilty to one count of embezzlement Friday in Dinwiddie Circuit Court.
Neville is the former chief financial officer for Dinwiddie-based Bank of McKenney. Media outlets report that court documents show Neville obtained a credit card in the bank’s name and had the card and subsequent statements sent to his home.
In a plea agreement, the 51-year-old DeWitt resident agreed to a 10-year suspended sentence, provided he obeys the law and pays court costs.
Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney Meghan Campbell says Neville has made full restitution and also paid about $109,000 that the bank incurred for a forensic audit, attorney fees and other expenses.
