2 displaced after fire engulfs Hanover home

HANOVER CO., Va. (WRIC) — No one was injured, however two people have been displaced after their home in the Mechanicsville area of Hanover County caught fire early Sunday morning.

The home, located at 8299 McCellan Road, went up in flames at approximately 2 a.m.

According to a release from the Hanover Fire-EMS department, the two occupants were able to escape the home safely after being woken up by the smoke alarm.

It took crews roughly an hour to mark the fire under control.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Hanover Fire Marshal’s Office.

Along with working smoke alarms, Hanover Fire–EMS reminds citizens to have a fire escape plan, and to get out and stay out if you have a fire.
