HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Two people were displaced from their home after
Authorities on Monday, at 7:32 p.m. Hanover Fire and EMS crews were dispatched to a residential structure fire in the 10000 block of Jennings Branch Court in the Kings Charter subdivision.
When firefighters arrived on scene, they encountered smoke and flames pouring from the roof area of the two story home. Crews quickly made entry to search for occupants and attack the fire. The fire was brought under control in about 20 minutes.

One person was home at the time of the fire and made it out safely before emergency crews got there.
Two people have been displaced by the fire and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
The Hanover Fire Marshal’s Office is working to determine what caused the fire. Based on witness statements, investigators suspect the fire to have been caused by a lighting strike.
Hanover Fire and EMS officials want to remind citizens to have a fire escape plan. If a fire occurs in your home, get out and stay out. Call 911 from a safe location and wait outside for the fire department to arrive.
