Richmond police detectives looking for purse snatcher

RICHMOND, Va, (WRIC) — Richmond Police detectives are reaching out to the public to help identify the suspect that assaulted and robbed a woman on July 17.

The victim was walking on the 3200 block of Ellwood Avenue at approximately 12:40 p.m. when she was approached by a woman who tried to grab her purse. The suspect then assaulted the victim and stole her purse.

Soon afterwards, investigating detectives discovered that the suspect had stolen a credit card from the victim’s purse and used it thereafter at a convenience store located at 1701 East Broad Street.

The suspect is described as a black female, approximately 5-foot 7-inches tall and weighing 210 pounds, who wore a white t-shirt, blue jeans and a black hat. She fled the scene on foot.

There were no reported injuries.

Detectives ask anyone with any information about this person to call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.
