We will start our evening with fair skies tonight in the area, but clouds will start to return as we head into the overnight hours. Overnight lows will fall back to right around 70.
Clouds will thicken tomorrow, and rain will start to overspread the area. It will start to the west of us around lunch and should be over the entire area by the dinner hour. This will keep things cooler as highs will only be in the lower to middle 80s.
Thursday night, showers and thunderstorms will be likely. Lows will be in the upper 60s. In these showers and storms there will be a west to east band of rainfall that will exceed 2”. The exact location of this heavy band will probably be between I-64 and the VA/NC border.
Showers and thunderstorms will continue into the middle of the day on Friday as the center of low pressure comes right across Central Virginia. Highs will only be around 80 degrees, but the projected path of this storm does concern me as it is one that potentially could cause issues for us.
The weather for the weekend will improve nicely with a good amount of sunshine and highs in the lower 80s on Saturday and mid to upper 80s on Sunday for the Carytown Watermelon Festival. Another front arrives on Tuesday with a chance of a thunderstorm.
