RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Looking to hear some great jazz hits, celebrate Filipino culture, run a 5K for a great cause, or maybe even bowl a few strikes at Uptown Alley? Look no further because this weekend’s line up has got all your needs!
Start your weekend off on a high note with the Richmond Jazz Festival. That’s right a jam packed and jazzy filled weekend that is sure to knock your socks off. There will also be preview shows on Thursday and Friday and leading up to the main lineup on Saturday and Sunday. Each year thousands of people come out to this event which has been regarded as a “world class jazz event worth travelling for” according to the event coordinators. The Richmond Jazz Festival promotes a calm, lively atmosphere, delicious cuisine, and many artists across the jazz, funk, and blues spectrum. The event will also be having complimentary wine tasting, chef demonstrations, and a chance for fans to meet one-on-one with artists. Some of the performing artists include: Ms. Lauryn Hill, Natalie Cole, David Sanborn, and New Edition to name a few. So if you’re feeling jazzy come on out this weekend to a jazz festival that’s sure to make you bebop and boogie with excitement.

FRIDAY
- 10th Annual Filipino Festival It’s the perfect getaway to the Philippines right in your own back yard! This festival is jam packed with culture ranging from delectable dishes including the traditional lumpia and lechon, live dancing, and bands. There will also be hands-on arts and crafts, vendors, and health screenings. This event will also take place with the Race ‘n’ Roll 5K.

- Artisan Nights A new weekend event hosted by the Magnolia Green Golf Club. This event will feature vendors, craft beer, live music, and more.

- 32nd Annual Virginia Outdoor Sportsman Show According to event coordinators, this event is “one of the largest hunting shows in the state of Va.” There will be hunting gear booths, knowledge, and stories about the outdoors and hunting.

- Race ‘n’ Roll 5k This Saturday will be the 2nd Annual charity race to benefit the Colorado Fund for Muscular Dystrophy. Following the 5K there will be a 1 Mile Kids Fun Run for children ages 4-12 years old. All fun run participants will receive a participation medal.
