DOSWELL, Va. (WRIC) — It’s almost time for the State Fair of Virginia!
This year, folks will have some new foods to enjoy. Some of the tasty treats include, french fries topped with beef brisket, cheese, scallions and sour cream and homemade pork rinds — just to name a few.
The sprinting swines, Rosaire’s Royal Racers, will run five times a day throughout the fair for the fan favorite pig race! Visitors can also watch demolition derby drivers smash and bash their cars together in the Thrill Pit. There’s even going to be two nights for fans to watch some fast-paced bull riding, calf roping and barrel racing by professional rodeo competitors. You can’t forget about the tractor pull events, either!
The 2015 fair will feature nearly 400 hours of performances, house about 2,500 animals, attract more than 10,000 competition entries, welcome field trip groups from 270 schools and serve about 13,000 corn dogs! (Wow, that’s a lot!)
