ARGYLE, NY (NEWS10) – On Sunday, September 27th at around 10:19 A.M., Washington County Sheriff’s responded to the area of 4 Hinds Road in the Town of Argyle for a report of a woman trapped under a vehicle.
After arriving on scene, sheriff’s deputies found 60-year-old Colleen R. Ramos, of County Route 43 in Argyle, pinned under her 1989 Ford Festiva. Her car was trying to balance on a rock ledge and in danger of shifting.
Sheriff’s deputies got a tow rope from a person on scene and then secured Ramos’ vehicle to another State Police patrol car that was arriving on scene.
Officers were able to pull Ramos from under her vehicle using the patrol car, the tow rope, and with the help of citizens as well fire and EMS personnel.
Ramos was evaluated by Argyle EMS and transported to the Glens Falls Hospital with minor leg injuries.
Ramos had been outside of the car when it began to roll off the rock ledge. She attempted to stop the vehicle from rolling but became caught under the front bumper as the car was still falling off the ledge.
A big rock at the bottom of the ledge appeared to have allowed just enough room between the car and the ground to prevent Ramos from being crushed.
Deputy Josh Whitney, Sgt. Todd Lemery and Trooper Kevin Saunders handled the case. Argyle Fire and EMS also assisted on the scene.
