RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Areas of dense fog will be over the region this morning and it should burn off by 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. allowing partly sunny skies to return to the region.

It will be a warm day with highs approaching 80, which is near the record high for today. The record high is 81 set in 1975. A few more clouds will begin to work in this evening and tonight ahead of our next weather system. It will be mild with lows in the middle 60s.

Our next weather system, a cold front, is not as strong looking as it was yesterday. However, rain showers will develop on Saturday between 10 a.m. and Noon and last into the afternoon and evening. Most of the rain showers will be light, but persistent at times. Total rainfall amounts will be much less than previously thought with many areas receiving quarter of an inch to a half inch of rain. That cold front will be off the coast by late Saturday night and our skies will clear as high pressure builds in.

Sunday will be a sunny day but it will be much cooler with highs in the upper 50s.

More sunshine is expected for Monday but the cool air will remain with highs only around 60.

Another system will slide up from the Carolinas on Tuesday bringing us more clouds and our next chance of rain.
