RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Dense fog has developed over all of central Virginia and many area are below 1 mile for visibility, which means you will need to go slower this morning and plan for delays due to the conditions.
We will see the fog burn off by 10 a.m. but the low clouds will persist for the day, as another area of rain is moving our way from the Gulf of Mexico. Rain will develop between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. from south to north and it will become steadier by the evening commute into the early part of tonight. Highs today will only top out in the upper 50s to near 60.
Rain showers will be with us for the remainder of tonight into early Thursday morning, so you can expect another wet commute for the last day of 2015. During New Year’s Eve day, that rain will move out and partly sunny skies will develop but that may not happen until the late afternoon. Our skies will clear out New Year’s Eve night allowing for some nice weather to ring in 2016. I expect temperatures will be in the middle 40s when midnight strikes.
New Year’s Day will feature partly sunny skies with highs in the lower 50s.
The sunshine will remain for the first weekend of 2016 and our temperatures will be near to just slightly above normal with highs around 50.
