HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Charges have been upgraded against three people accused of the death of a little boy.
On Monday, a grand jury returned murder indictments against the people who were babysitting three-year-old Zyon Thompson when he died in April.
Clarence Raiford Jr., his wife Alexis Denise Raiford and William Corey Moore were originally charged with felony child abuse and neglect.
Now they are charged with murder in the death of Zyon.
The little boy’s grandmother says Alexis Raiford was babysitting Zyon at her eastern Henrico home when something happened that led to his death.
The medical examiner tells 8News the child’s cause of death is still pending.
All three suspects are in jail with no bond and they are due back in court at the end of July.
